Kasanova
The solid growth prospects and the ever-increasing impact of the e-commerce channel have prompted the Italian group operating in the housewares sector to review its logistics model, which at the time consisted of a central warehouse located in Corbetta (MI) and another 7 warehouses all in the north, one of which is dedicated to B2C logistics. To improve performance and reduce transport costs, which in the meantime had reached high levels especially for the points of sale in the South and on the islands, it was decided to close the existing warehouses and split the logistics hub in two: one in the north, to be built ex -novo, and one in the south with a slightly smaller capacity.
Stesi supported Kasanova throughout the study, definition and design phase of the complex logistics system, which was followed by the implementation of the plant supervisor, Silwa®. In this regard, a complete configuration was opted for, made up of the core WMS module and components dedicated to automation, the distribution of missions to the transport devices, the 3D virtualization of the logistics areas, support for operators via graphical navigation, traceability and much more. The central warehouse in Turate, which serves more than 500 shops and houses more than 50,000 pallet places, is today a concentration of technology from a 4.0 perspective: automation, RTLS (Real Time Location System) systems based on laser technology, advanced security systems -on-half and half-on-man and much more, all governed by the Silwa® plant supervisor. The project was completed in just 10 months.
